To produce the sensor we use ‘bonded metal gauges’ which are typically used in extensometers. To maximise the quality of our sensors and obtain greater signal amplitudes, we optimise the test body, the medium, the adhesive and the strain gauge.
Therefore, in order to meet our customer’s needs we have to optimise the test body, which is the fundamental part of the sensor. To do this, we must select the most suitable materials, such as a steel alloy, stainless steel or an aluminium alloy, etc. However, simply optimising the test body by choosing the best materials is not enough to ensure the quality of the sensor; we also have to consider the geometry of the test body.
In addition to the geometrical and material aspects, we also have to consider the appearance of the sensor and protecting its dimensions in relation to the working environment. The additional cost of specific dimensional and geometric optimisations will be outweighed by the gains in efficiency for the customer.
