Overload detection on helicopter winch

Helicopters are often equipped with winches designed to meet multiple demands: rescue, lifting, transport, etc. The value of the mass being raised must be measured to avoid unbalancing the device or exceeding its lifting capacity.

At the request of manufacturers, SENSY develops and supplies specific custom-made load pins based on specifications provided by the customer's R&D department.

These load pins are equipped with an internal amplifier providing the output signal which is adapted to the customer's management electronics. 

Obviously, this equipment must meet the stringent requirements specific to any aircraft onboard equipment: initially this covers technical aspects: weight, reliability, overload resistance, accuracy, etc.

Secondly, it concerns the quality assurance system: traceability, manufacturing according to the EN9100 standard, control of the first product (FAI), etc.

Other instruments, such as those used to measure the force in the pedals, the forces in the stick and for balancing the rotor (ground tests) are also carried out.
